A regional children s fair sets to raise the maternal and child industry, worth 1.68 trillion baht
Kind + Jugend ASEAN 2023, an international trade fair related to baby products and essentials in the ASEAN region, has kicked off today. The event has received great support from both public and private partners, attracting more than 200 quality brands and more than 3,000 exhibitors, and generating a turnover of 1 billion baht. It is ready to play an important role in elevating the import-export of the mother and child market in the region, which grows at a compound annual average of 7.69 % until 2026, reaching a market size of 1.68 trillion baht.
Mr. Mathias Kuepper, Managing Director & Vice President for Asia-Pacific, Koelnmesse Pte Ltd in Singapore, said that Thailand is one of the countries in Southeast Asia with good infrastructure, both in terms of business friendly policies, skilled workers, a well developed tourism industry as well as a central location in the region. These factors have all promoted Thailand to become an important trading center and a popular destination for businesses and investors from around the world.
"At the same time, Thailand also has a strong and growing baby and child market, driven by a large family population that values high quality and innovative products. The company therefore decided to bring these strengths to organize Kind + Jugend ASEAN 2023 in Bangkok as a platform for businesses to showcase products and services in the baby and child industry, that meets the needs of entrepreneurs comprehensively, especially strategic locations for wide-angle access to the Southeast Asian market."
Kind + Jugend is the leading international trade fair in the baby and child care industry held annually in Cologne, Germany. It is also an important meeting place for business networking, exchanging of ideas, and an innovative platform for industry professionals, as well as manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and high quality buyers, from an event that has a long history of success and has been organized continuously for more than 60 years.
Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, gave information that in 2023, the overall Thai economy began to have a noticeable recovery direction from the recovery of tourism business, which estimated that the number of foreign tourists entering the country would have a chance of up to 30 million people. It also includes the export sector, which is an important engine to stimulate the Thai economy that is likely to grow continuously, especially in the maternal and child sector, which is growing against the declining fertility rate. This is because today s modern parents focus on buying products that enhance their child s skills and development in each stage of life, focusing on quality over price.
"The Thai Chamber of Commerce has a policy to promote and push for mother and baby products to have opportunities to generate growth for exports to foreign markets by expanding a variety of distribution channels such as online channels, exhibitions, and trade show. This makes Kind + Jugend ASEAN 2023, the first in Southeast Asia, a potential opportunity to promote brand building and trust in Thai-made products to be accepted internationally."
It is expected that from 2023 to 2026, the Asia-Pacific region will see imports and exports of maternal and child products at a consistent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 7.69% and has a market size of $47.71 million, which has a 59% increase in value compared to the year 2019 before the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, the Thai Chamber of Commerce sees the opportunities and potential of the maternal and child product market that has a tendency to grow continuously. It has therefore joined hands with Expolink Global Network, the representative of Koelnmesse in Thailand, to organize the Kind & Jugend Asean 2023 event.
Mr. Phusit Sasitaranondha, Consultant of the Board of Directors of Expolink Global Network Ltd, the representative of Koelnmesse in Thailand, said that the four-day Kind + Jugend ASEAN 2023 will feature more than 200 brands from 15 countries and is expected to attract more than 3,000 visitors.
